Last time, we covered short hairstyles. Now, we continue with a selection of mid length hairstyles. Medium length is the most universal and one that gives infinite styling possibilities, especially when it comes to thinner hair.
As we've state it before, it's a fact that the majority of women feel more confident than ever before by the time we reach our 40s. This give us the opportunity to have more fun with our hair and explore new haircuts, hairstyles and hair colors.
MID LENGTH – YET ALL THE WAY GORGEOUS – HAIR
We put together a list of medium length hairstyles that can work well with the thinner density and texture changes of hair after 40.
When trying out new lengths and shapes, it will be important that you bear in mind your face shape and lifestyle. And of course, it should go well with your personality to make the look truly your own!
1. The Lob
The lob can be a great option if you are not sure about going short or long. Go halfway with a lob! The lob length is between long hair and a bob, which means it is cut just above the shoulders, at shoulder level or just below. The best perks: it flatters all face shapes, it is versatile and low-maintenance too!
Pro-tip: request your stylist to create a center part for your cut. This will ensure it is perfectly symmetrical, and afterwards, you will have the freedom to flip it to the other side if needed.
2. Layered with bangs
Medium hairstyles can easily look stylish and full of volume with a simple combination of layers and bangs. Adding bangs never fails to boost thin hair; the blunter the bangs the better. As the perfect complement, swooping layers will give the illusion of density to your beautiful mane. You can style the layers straight or wavy depending on your natural hair texture, the occasion or your mood.
Pro tip: remember to always apply a protective spray when using hot styling tools.
3. The messy updo
As easy as 1-2-3: comb your hair back into a messy bun, hold in place with pins, then loosen the bun and bring out some strands around your face. And Voilà! You will be wearing a pretty, fun look with added volume in no time.
Pro tip: besides being a time-saver, the messy updo can be a “secret weapon” to keep a great look when you are growing out your haircut or if you are in between color appointments.
No matter if you are going from long to short, vice versa, or keeping the same length and just changing styles, the key is in keeping having fun with our hair.
And in the case that you are still not sure about trying out that new haircut or style you have been eyeing for several months or have glued to your fridge door, here is some additional inspiration. From the words of George Bernard Shaw: “We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing”.
